64 school districts run propane-fueled buses in the state of Texas. Those 1,800 alternative buses hitting the streets are reducing children’s exposure to diesel exhaust and emitting less-emissions into the air. Why are school districts choosing propane autogas school buses? These buses offer several distinct advantages, including:
- Meets Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and California Air Resources Board (CARB) certification requirements for the 2010 production year
- Provides a safe, attractive and viable alternative fuel choice amidst rising diesel fuel prices
- Allows for operators to receive tax incentives for purchasing both propane-powered school buses and propane fuel, including a 50-cent rebate on every gallon of propane purchased
- Lowers operating and maintenance costs
