Propane Days 2011: A Huge Success!

More than 300 industry leaders traveled to Washington, DC to inform their Congressional representatives of issues affecting the propane industry durign this year’s National Propane Gas Association’s annual “Propane Days” rally. It was a huge success that began on June 13th with the NPGA Annual Meeting and Mid-Year Board of Directors Meeting. The program included updates from the NPGA Legislative team, Senator Roy Blunt (R-MO), and keynote speaker Frank Luntz. 

Participants were educate regarding legislation that affects the propane industry and how we all can be actively involved in its development. A Congressional Reception was held at the Rayburn Cafeteria were members networked with each other and their Congressional representatives. Propane Days concluded with the Pipeline Forum where FERC Commissioner Marc Spitzer spoke and provided industry representatives an opportunity to interact with the federal regulators with authority over the propane pipeline infrastructure.

Stuart Weidie, President of Alliance AutoGas, Founder of Autogas for America, and NPGA Governmental Affairs Committee chairman, spoke during the rally. He stated, “Propane Days has been a valuable opportunity to reach lawmakers interested in addressing America’s energy challenges,” Weidie continued, “Autogas for America doesn’t promote legislative favoritism for any particular fuel. However, we believe autogas should have equal opportunity to succeed in the marketplace alongside other alternative fuels already receiving attention in Washington D.C.
