A Commissioner's Experience

At one time, I thought propane just came in cylinders for my grill.  Now, I know there are other uses.   Since 1999 when I began my tenure as a Commissioner at the Railroad Commission of Texas, I’ve spent considerable time and energy working with the Commission’s Alternative Energy Division to educate the public about propane as a transportation fuel for both on- and off-road vehicles…and even an option for air transportation.  One of the biggest milestones in my effort to increase the use of alternative fuel vehicles in Texas was when the Railroad Commission’s Texas Propane Fleet proposal was awarded funding from the DOE Clean Fleet program.

Propane is great for grilling, but it can play an even greater role in the country as a transportation fuel.  Over the next few weeks, I’d like to share with you some photos and memories from my experiences with propane vehicles.
